I did a usability study on the online store of SleepNumber, a site made to reach customers looking for comfortable sleep. The test was done on 3 people: a web design teacher, a male student who is fluent in English, and a female student who is not so fluent. I gave them these following tasks:
Most of the tasks were able to be completed without much help, but I would have to chalk up some complication to the phrasing of my questions. Finding the warming blanket and it being 100% polyester was speedy for all three participants after getting to the beddings page. Finding the closest stores was also easy for all the participents. I have to say, the last tasks was the most difficult because almost everyone immediately went to Support or used the Control F function to look up "partnerships" and "ACS", where they had no success. The teacher gave up after a good 10 minutes and commented on how there were so many links to get lost in within the website. I helped navigate the female student into looking for "partnership" and "sleep science" as keywords and was able to find it. I changed the question for the male student to include Sleep Science, American Cancer Society(ACS), and Partnership, which got him really quickly to my answer; I'd say the fastest.
This website is well-organized with the many links it has. For the basic findings, like stores and merchandise, it functions perfectly. Deeper search is needed to get into the "abouts" of this website, which is expected for a website that works more on selling than informing. I would create a stronger search engine within the website to catch the words a user would like to find. Other than that, I think this website is very well-made. It's aesthetically pleasing as well.
